Agenda
Course theme
This course is focusing on the basic methodology regarding uncertainty propagation (UP) and sensitivity analysis (SA), and it can be split into three parts:
- Introduction to uncertainty propagation and sensitivity analysis
- UP and SA under the condition of neutron flux oscillation
- UP and SA under the condition of thermal-hydraulic transients
Learning objective
The main objective is to provide an understanding on theoretical background of the uncertainty propagation and sensitivity analysis as well as the practical techniques to perform the UP and SA.
From the lecture, the participants will learn the backgrounds, various methodologies on UP and SA, and the actual examples in nuclear field. And the additional Hands-on-Training will help to understand the detailed procedure on UP and SA and to build the practical skills on performing the UP and SA under the various target events.
Structure of the 3 days course
- 1.5 days lecture + 1.5 days Hands-on Training
- Introduction to uncertainty analysis in nuclear safety
- Introduction to the methodology of uncertainty propagation
- Introduction to the methodology of sensitivity analysis
- UP and SA under the condition of neutron flux oscillation
- UP and SA under the condition of thermal-hydraulic transients
- Hands-on-Training : UP & SA under the condition of neutron flux oscillation

Important practical information
It is highly recommended to stay in Garching, since it takes longer than 30 minutes to come to the
university from Munich city center. HERE is a list of the available hotels around Garching.
